it won't be long...
He's coming home!
(with apologies to my boys, John and Paul, for my horrible singing voice)
Jake should be arriving at the school right about now. Bill is there waiting for him. As I told Jake when he called from National, we arm wrestled for who got to go get him. Jake said, "Oh, so Daddy lost?" Nope, baby, he won. We don't care if it's dark o'clock in the morning. We want you back. Now.
Reports from the flight back:
Shouldn't we all stay home tomorrow? I think we should. Will the elementary middle schools accept that as an excused absence? "Dear so and so, please excuse (insert one my children's names here) from school on 9/20. Her/his brother just came home from China and we just missed him so much and had to stay home to hear all the stories."
Abie expressed concern this evening that Jake might have forgotten how to speak English while he was away. When we would ask Ben where Jake was he would go look in Jake's room and pronounce that he was on a walk with friends.
Hurry home!

Reports from the flight back:
"The flight attendants were much nicer than the ones on the way there....the first ones would whack your leg on purpose if it was sticking out in the aisle at all."
"I'm not tired at all...it's 1:30 in the afternoon!" (spoken at 1:30 am, our time. Yipe.)
"I got Abie a really cool remote controlled car. It was really cheap. Well...wait...it was (mumbled) yen...maybe it was $30. I'm not sure. But it's really cool."
"OH! Here comes our luggage. Gotta go!"
