first day of school, a day late

No pics of the big boy because he was out the door before I could grab my camera. You know, because I was asleep. Lest you think he was neglected, his dad was up with him and they took off together. With the dog. She got a new hairdo for the first day of school, dontchaknow. I did intend to wake up but didn't even hear them getting ready. Bad mom.

Here are the middle schoolers. Note the glee on Hope's face and the nearly-a-sneer look on Clara's. Clara just barely tolerates me taking photos of her. As in, I threaten her and she sometimes doesn't cover her face. Here's another one of her. Love it.Hope was actually pretty upset that she didn't get her first choice for her elective (Latin) and ended up with her second choice (Theater Arts). Brainiac. I think it's cool that Hope has Theater Arts one period and Clara has it the very next, though, so as one of my girls is leaving the room, the other is entering.

And now, the twins fourth and first graders. Yes, the 6 year old is almost as tall as the (almost) nine year old. Successful days were reported all around, though Hope let us know that her science teacher told them that she doesn't like teaching 8th graders (the grade Hope is in) but got stuck with it because they didn't have anyone else to teach the class. Hope thought she was being serious but surely she just wasn't picking up on sarcasm....right? Please? Who would say such a thing?

Ben woke up after everyone had left and cried that he wanted them to stay home with him....Abie and Emma...and Hope....and Clara...and Jake....sob.... Poor boy. We did go out later and had fun running errands and picking up lunch. It's not all that bad being the big kid at home.
